YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS.
CAUTION: ALL LYRICS EVERYTHING
We’re always in such a hurry to share with our virtual world a happy moment that we don’t fully enjoy the moment.
Happy moments are interrupted - often in an attempt to capture and save them - by camera flashes and the subtle mental anxiety to upload or tell it all to people, who mostly don’t care whether we’re having a good time or not.
Maybe our happiness isn’t really dependent on the good time we’re having anymore, but on the comments and likes we elicit - or solicit, maybe - from sharing them online?

Three Poems from Rachel Glaser’s Moods
"God is popular"
god is popular with athletes
they think about him while they practice
but rarely will he watch with one of his eyes
he has countless eyes
a hundred eyes, more
he is all eyes, but they hurt
and he can never sleep
the ocean is okay
but boats crowd it with their wakes
god can’t help but look at every bubble
it puts a strain on his eyes to watch small things and fast things
cities, streets, fingernails
dots on a die
he prefers to watch other planets
Saturn and those ones
those are graceful
more one color
watching Rushmore be built
the Great Wall
something lengthy and accumulative
he hates fireworks
but the worst is to see a needle being strung
the little end of the string struggling to fit
his eye feels like it’s been injected with iodine
he cannot rub it
he is invisible
no one can help him
I’m not like you.
I am pretty sure I’m not like anyone.
I found out early, I stand apart,
a puppy in a cage.
My body doesn’t work right,
it never has.
Neither does my mind.
I’ve things within myself
I just don’t understand.
Spending most of my life
living lies, trying all the tries
to be like everyone
Now, finally, I’ve come to believe.
It’s really just okay
To be me.

And I think that’s the story of our generation’s pursuit of fulfillment in relationships. We wished for intimacy without obligation. We wished for sex with no strings attached. We wished for the pleasure of love with none of work, none of the vows, none of the sacrifice.
And we got it.
But the results aren’t what we hoped for. And we’re left feeling emptier than before. The intimacy is superficial. The sex leaves us dissatisfied and hungry for something real, something true.
Where is true joy? It’s found in God’s brand of love - love founded on faithfulness, rooted in commitment.
The joy of intimacy is the reward of commitment.
